I painted this in Big Sur California, cradled in the middle of giant redwoods.
One thing I feel from this piece, is that it holds two worlds. One is magnified with large brush marks, and the other becomes a microscopic world in comparison. There’s different views this piece takes in, the same way the redwood forest has various ways to experience it. Standing next to the great trees, you’re left seeing the ecosystem below them. From a far off distance, you can see how massive the trees are, but that small world of life below the trees disappears from view. As humans, we get to travel between worlds, resonating a spectrum of perspectives, reflecting and interacting with a variety of life in different forms. We get to travel, move, and take the light in. This is the same with paint. We get to see the paint move and create shapes for color to embody these worlds we get to be a part of.
